試合で７回表が終了すると、観客が立ち上がりこの歌を歌います。
セブンスイニングストレッチともいいます。試合が長引いた場合は、
延長１４回表が終わった時にもします。
大リーグからリトル・リーグにいたるまで、
どんな試合でも必ず七回表が終わると
「私を野球に連れてって」を歌うようになった。

セブンスイニングストレッチは１９１０年、ワシントンで行われた開幕戦で、
当時のウィリアム・ハワード・タフト大統領が立ち上がり背伸びをしたのを見た観客が、
まねをしたというのが定説になっています。

 2001年9月の同時多発テロ事件以後は、この"Take Me Out to the Ball Game"以外に、
アメリカ国民の愛国歌として知られる、"God Bless America"も、
事件への追悼の意味も込めて、このセブンス・イニング・ストレッチで歌われるようになった。
「アメリカに神の加護あれ」という意味です。

   実際に歌われるのは、Take me out〜からの部分。

ケイティ・ケイシーは野球に夢中だった。それも
かなりの熱を上げていた。
地元チームを応援するのにケイティはいつも一生
懸命だった。
ある土曜日、彼女のボーイフレンドが映画に行
かないかと誘ったけど、
彼女の答えはこうだった。「いやよ。でもお願い
があるの。」
